Description
This is a one-of-a-kind, handbuilt stoneware dish, shaped to feel like a small rock basin found by the sea. Measuring approx. 18 × 14 cm and 3 cm high, and weighing around 630 g, it has a satisfying, grounded weight that keeps it stable wherever you place it. The rim and interior are coated in a glossy, metallic glaze that shifts between warm browns, bronze and soft charcoal tones, catching the light like water. The base remains raw and textured, with layered clay that looks almost like sediment or folded earth.
Use it as an ashtray, a catch-all for keys and coins by the door, a bedside tray for rings and jewellery, or even as a small altar dish for Palo Santo, sage or incense cones. The shallow pool in the centre makes it practical, while the organic, irregular edge keeps it feeling like a piece of nature brought indoors. Every mark, ripple and variation in the glaze comes from the firing process and the handmade construction – nothing here is factory-perfect, and that’s exactly the point.
Made in our Rhodes studio, this piece is designed to live with you for years: heavy enough to feel solid, small enough to move easily from coffee table to balcony to desk. On its own or paired with other Oktana pieces, it brings a quiet, earthy presence to any corner of the house.
